About Us
The purpose of this Group is to provide guidance and leadership on
the development of library and information services for NHS staff and
students across the NHS London area. The focus will be on the role that
library and information services play in:
- supporting education, training, lifelong learning and research
- fostering patient safety
- supporting clinical partnerships
- promoting evidence-based practice
and ensuring that the services delivered are of high quality.
The work of the group will be derived from the NLH and LHL
strategies and will complement the work of the Library Council and
other LHL working groups.
Role
- To input to the development of NLH strategy and policy by feeding
into the work of the NLH Service Development Group and supporting the
NLH Institute Team
- To co-ordinate and lead the implementation across London of the
National Service Framework for NHS Funded Library Services in
England.
- To advise on a wide range of issues relating to library services development. These are likely to include the following (though this is not intended as an exhaustive list):
Quality, standards and performance
Innovation in service development
Patient information services
Widening access
Publicity and promotional activities
Core library services including alerting services
and the development of the physical library environment
- To form task and finish groups as required to deliver the work
programme
